WCL is a leading provider of messaging services to the London and global (re)insurance market. WCL’s ‘enabled’ solutions allow messages, notifications and queries to be exchanged in a structured format despite being generated using different applications.
Founded in 2003, WCL has been a part of the London Market technology scene for many years. With a new wave of start-ups joining the Insurtech scene, WCL recognised the need to boost its brand awareness beyond the London Market and remain relevant in a complex competitor landscape. In 2018, the company embarked on a rebranding exercise with branding agency That’s Brave and brought Rein4ce in to work on its external PR strategy.
Rein4ce began by holding a key messaging session to establish the areas of focus for WCL, refreshing the strategy every 12 months.
Rein4ce also hosted a social media training session to support the digital strategy and ensure the executive profiles were up to date. In addition to providing the tools to create and maintain a successful social media profile, Rein4ce’s social media training also included guidance on how to use social media for business development purposes. After a successful eighteen-months working with WCL, in March 2020, the PR emphasis shifted dramatically as the coronavirus pandemic hit and face-to-face interaction ceased.
From March 2020, Rein4ce increased efforts in boosting WCL’s profile in the virtual media and secured opportunities in webinars, virtual conferences and blogging content hosted on WCL’s website and LinkedIn page. Rein4ce also worked closely with WCL’s branding agency to ensure synergy between the marketing and PR efforts. This included creating interesting content for WCL’s new website and keeping it up to date with the latest editorial coverage and social media. Rein4ce and That’s Brave also worked together on social media campaigns to make sure WCL’s branding and messaging remained consistent.
Rein4ce has worked to establish James Willison, MD of WCL, and key spokespeople in WCL’s executive team as thought leaders in technology, data and London market modernisation. Articles and interviews have been published in a number of global insurance and reinsurance trade press, including Intelligent Insurer, Bermuda: Re+ILS, The Royal Gazette, Carrier Management and Insurance Day. James has also participated in several industry webinars, including Post Magazine’s COVID-Cast.
A highlight was WCL’s inclusion in the Intelligent Insurer 2020 ‘InsurTech 100’ list.
During lockdown, WCL also utilised the social media business development skills it gained from the training session with Rein4ce to successfully use LinkedIn as a networking tool to find new clients – leading to one proposal for business. In addition, Rein4ce worked with That’s Brave to create an engaging social media campaign to publicise enhancements made to WCL’s enabledAccounting product. Rein4ce wrote a number of posts and That’s Brave created bright and engaging imagery.
Rein4ce continues to raise the profile of WCL and its executive as thought leaders in the industry, as well as creating interesting and relevant content for WCL’s website and social media channels and to improve the ‘look and feel’ of content.
