London-based AkinovA is an electronic marketplace for the transfer and trading of insurance risk. It has an exciting business model that aims to digitally transform the re/insurance industry. When Rein4ce was approached by AkinovA, market reaction was mixed as AkinovA had not yet produced a trade. While AkinovA had a very impressive and a well-respected Board, AkinovA was up against competition from Tremor and Tullet Prebon. The company wanted to differentiate itself and establish itself as the platform of choice for trading insurance and reinsurance risk.
The Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous, which is held every September, is the most important reinsurance meeting in the world, and it was identified as the ideal event to raise the profile of AkinovA, its services and key personnel to the media and the market.
Rein4ce suggested a brochure that will address the concerns of the market, in a positive, upbeat manner. In May and June 2019, Rein4ce worked with AkinovA’s Chief Executive Officer and the Commercial Director to create a white paper that would be the basis of all messaging in the run-up to and during the event. The brochure was written from the viewpoint of AkinovA’s Board – a panel of well-respected industry legends – who addressed the market’s questions and concerns and created a positive narrative about the company.
Rein4ce wrote a high quality seven-page white paper entitled ‘Unlocking the re/insurance sector’s digital future’ which was produced in time for Monte Carlo, which the AkinovA team left with clients, prospects and journalists during the Rendez-Vous. We also created a PR strategy that involved liaising with all the major trade press to create a number of interviews with journalists before Monte Carlo, and face-to-face media meetings on the ground, as well writing pre-prepared content to be published in the daily newsletters produced by the magazines during the four day event. In the run-up to the Rendez-Vous, Rein4ce ensured the AkinovA team was well-briefed by producing a comprehensive media pack and key talking points. Rein4ce created pre-written content or interviews with Insurance Insider, Insurance Day, and Intelligent Insurer.
In Monte Carlo, we organised interviews with Global Reinsurance, Trading Risk, Emerg-in, Intelligent Insurer, S&P Global Market Intelligence, Insurance ERM and Business Insurance. During the event itself, AkinovA appeared in a full-page feature in Insurance Insider and stories in Intelligent Insurer, Global Reinsurance and Reactions. Other articles arising from the Monte Carlo activity were published later in the year.
Through a combination of creating a white paper, writing opinion pieces and organising a wide range of media interviews, some of which were published during Monte Carlo, Rein4ce was successful in significantly increasing awareness of the business, its services and its key executives which paved the way to increased membership for AkinovA including brokers and new capacity providers
