Lawyer says non-US firms could increase reinsurance work in America
Reinsurance in America may be set to see more business carried out by non-US firms. Law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath Partner Tom Dawson, provides insight into the options available for non-US based reinsurance companies operating in the US reinsurance market ahead of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) vote on changes to its model credit for reinsurance law and regulation.
Door open for foreign reinsurers
He said: “Regardless, the new arrangements open the door for foreign reinsurers to significantly increase the amount of business they write in the U.S. in the coming years.”
