2019 has been quite the year for the insurance, reinsurance, ILS and insurtech worlds. From the first start-ups seen in the industry for a long time, to the evolution of InsurTech and the start of a hardening market, 2019 has been quite a year. Here we look back at Rein4ce’s 2019 – a year full of new clients, lots of travel and fun.
We would like to wish all our clients, suppliers and friends of the company a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We have really enjoyed working with you all and look forward to supporting our clients on projects and ventures next year.
It’s been a busy year for the Rein4ce team as we travelled to Bermuda, the United States, Monaco, France and Switzerland meeting our portfolio of global clients and friends in the press.
Some of our 2019 highlights were:
- Securing more than 3,000 press items for clients including news items, commentary and opinion pieces
- Coverage in titles such as the Financial Times, Reuters and a wide range of re/insurance and ILS trade press
- We grew our client base and now serve reinsurers, brokers, insurers, ILS ventures and insurtechs in 10 countries
We started 2019 with our company away day in January, which was a great opportunity to plan and develop creative strategies for our clients.
Caitlin Jennings was rewarded with a promotion to Account Executive in March. Well done, Caitlin! Caitlin has been with the company for three years and runs some of our most established accounts – a testament to her terrific development as a PR professional.
We also flew to New York that month as a sponsor of the Insurance Insider’s prestigious Insurtech event. We touched base with reporters as well as meeting some new faces among the delegates. We were also delighted to attend the Invest Bermuda event in New York and enjoyed spending time with some of our US clients in the city.
From there, we headed to Bermuda to host the first of a series of insurtech seminars. Led by Rein4ce CEO Mairi Mallon and held at the Bermuda Business Development offices, the session outlined the do’s and don’ts of using PR to successfully tell your insurtech story to an insurance and reinsurance audience.
We had great feedback from our second seminar, held in London in April, and kindly hosted by Allied World. Rein4ce Senior Account Executive Sarah Hills chaired a Q&A with Jonathan Swift, a former editor of Post magazine and insurtech expert, on how technology companies can grab the attention of the press. Following the success of these events, we are planning more for next year, so watch this space!
The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) conference, which is held in May in Manchester, is the largest broker conference in the UK, attracting around 8000 delegates for two days of networking, learning and business development. Rein4ce was there again this year to support clients.
Hot on the heels of BIBA, Sarah and Caitlin flew to Lyon to support our client International General Insurance (IGI), which sponsored and took part in the Equal Playing Field’s (EPF) Festival of Football. Sarah and Caitlin were among the 807 players who created a new Guinness Book of Record by playing in a football match involving the largest number of people ever involved in a game.
In June, Rein4ce Account Executive Helen Smith went to the UK risk managers’ conference Airmic in Harrogate to support one of our insurtech companies. They were one of the pioneering companies housed in the new Fujitsu Tech Hub, set up for the first time at Airmic.
In July, Sarah and Managing Director Stephen Breen were in New York to see our clients and in Bermuda to launch our new Corporate 360 product to a client on the island.
The highlight of September is always the Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous and this year Mairi, Sarah, Helen and Caitlin attended the Women in Reinsurance dinner – a great way to set the scene for the growing number of influential women in our market from around the world. Our clients took part in a series of ‘speed dating’ interviews with the press in addition to their normal meetings. Our client dinner was, again, a great success. It is always a delight to introduce our clients to each other – so many connections were made and business discussed over the amazing truffle pasta in Pulcinella – and it never disappoints! We also hosted other dinners to introduce clients to the press in an informal setting.
Later in September, Mairi and Sarah braved Hurricane Humberto and flew out to Bermuda for client meetings. When the hurricane hit, they were evacuated to the basement of a hotel, though not before sending back some amazing footage of the wind ahead of the storm!
In November, Mairi chaired a lively and interesting panel at the Bermuda ILS Convergence event in West London.
We held our Christmas party in early December, just as the City was getting all dressed up for the festive season. It was a great way to round off a busy year by raising a glass to our clients, friends and contacts in the media.
