Brandon Nuttall, Chief Digital and AI Officer at Xceedance spoke to Insurance Day about how carriers still using legacy technology will struggle to leverage generative AI and other advanced technologies for their multiple use cases, including improving pricing, portfolio management, claims handling and customer service.
Nuttall makes the point that the extended hard market has masked the problem of both ‘classic’ and ‘modern’ legacy systems: “As the cycle continues to turn, the need to write three times the number of policies and assess three times the volume of submissions to stay in the same place means companies that have failed to update their technology will struggle compared with those that have stayed up to date.”

SiriusPoint has appointed Philip Enan as its new chief strategy and corporate development officer, effective immediately. Enan, who was previously executive vice president, global corporate development and head of strategic partnerships at Chubb, will be based in New York, joins the executive leadership team and reports directly to CEO Scott Egan.

Fidelis Insurance Group has promoted Hannah Greenwood to chief underwriting officer for its Bermuda operations, from the role of chief of staff, which she held from 2023. Her new role includes responsible for guiding underwriting strategy, enhancing risk management and driving innovation in the Bermuda office. She will oversee Fidelis Bermuda’s underwriting direction and play a key role in supporting the company’s broader strategic goals.
“I am delighted to announce Hannah’s appointment to CUO for Bermuda,” said Allan Decleir, group chief financial officer and Bermuda chief executive.

AmTrust International has reported steady progress in its Turkish operations, one year after opening its office in Istanbul. This expansion is part of the company’s wider strategy to grow its credit protection and affinity portfolio and improve underwriting performance across key markets.

SirisuPoint has promoted Chris Fenn to Global Head of Marine, which adds to two other appointments in the Marine team. Fenn was previously Head of Marine, London, and has prior experience in leading Marine teams during his 14-year tenure at Markel. Fenn’s new role will be to lead SiriusPoint’s Marine team with a key focus on building the cargo, fine art and specie, ports and terminal, and marine liability offering.

SiriusPoint has appointed Eleanor Gibson as International Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). She will be based in London, and will report to Rob Gibbs, President & CEO of SiriusPoint International, and Anthony Shapella, Group Chief Underwriting Officer.Gibson brings 30 years of industry experience.
Gibson joins from AIG, and brings 30 years of industry experience. As part of her role, she will provide strategic leadership to underwriting and portfolio management teams across SiriusPoint International, with a focus on driving profitable growth and performance.
