SiriusPoint has invited Martin Hudson to join the board of directors. Key to Hudson’s appointment is his four decades of international reinsurance leadership, spanning underwriting, risk management, governance, and executive management.
He has served as an independent non-executive director and chair of the board for a multitude of companies, including SiriusPoint International Insurance, and has held senior executive positions at Travelers Insurance, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, and Old Mutual Specialty Insurance.

Anthony Kerr has been appointed as senior client manager and claims advocate at New Dawn Risk. With more than 35 years of experience across Lloyd’s and company markets, Kerr will focus on enhancing the firm’s claims support for professional liability clients.

Kerr previously served as claims manager at Munitus Insurance and has held senior claims roles at St Paul Specialty Underwriting, Wellington Underwriting, Catlin, Brit and Beazley. His experience includes handling multi-jurisdictional claims for law firms, financial institutions, accountants and construction professionals.
MS Reinsurance (MS Re) has reported a profit of $102 million for the first quarter of the fiscal year, up $28 million from $74 million in the same period a year earlier. The company’s combined ratio improved to 87.3%, down 2.4 points from 89.7% , benefiting from significant premium growth driven by continued business expansion with well-managed and diversified portfolios.
Net premiums written totalled $2.07 billion, up $292 million from $1.78 billion. Net premiums earned amounted to $840 million, up $126 million from $714 million.
MS Re recorded a net income of $65 million, down $16 million from $81 million a year earlier.
International General Insurance Holdings (IGI) has reported its financial results for the second quarter and first half of 2025.
Net income for the quarter ended June 30 was $34.1 million, up 3.9 % from $32.8 million in the same period of 2024. For the first six months of the year, net income totaled $61.4 million, down from $70.7 million a year earlier.
Group president and CEO Waleed Jabsheh said: “Current market conditions are generally healthy though becoming more competitive in some areas of our portfolio, both by line of business and by geography. Our strategy, expertise and footprint are specifically geared towards managing the cyclicality and volatility of our business, where lines and markets behave largely independent of each other.”

The Insurer reports Sirius Point’s announcement that it has expanded its existing partnership with MCA Dupi Nordics into continental Europe.
Sirius Point has provided capacity to Dupi Nordics, based in Copenhagen, since March 2023. The partnership was previously focused on brown water hull business solely in the Nordics region.
SiriusPoint has capacity relationships with a number of marine market MGAs, including Ryan Specialty Nordics AB, located in Stockholm, European boutique MCA Alta Signa’s marine launch, and Hellenic Hull Management.
Specialty insurer and reinsurer IQUW has promoted Phil Furlong to the newly created role of Head of Technical Underwriting and Oversight, with Mark McDonach succeeding Furlong as Head of Marine, Energy, and Aviation.
In his new role, Furlong will oversee underwriting governance and technical standards across the business, while also taking on leadership of the IQUW Claims function.
Peter Bilsby, Group CEO at IQUW, and to whom Furlong will report, commented on the transition, “These promotions reflect our commitment to recognising and developing talent from within.”
