• SiriusPoint has announced a partnership with Holmes Murphy, one of the largest independent insurance brokerages in the United States.

    The collaboration aims to provide a new umbrella excess insurance product specifically designed for captives managed by Holmes Murphy and its subsidiary companies. Under the agreement, SiriusPoint will serve as the carrier partner, writing the umbrella excess line for captive members on a non-admitted basis.

  • Specialty insurer and reinsurer, IQUW has announced its financial results for the year ending 31 December 2024, reporting a combined operating ratio of 83.3% and gross written premium (GWP) growth of 22%.

    This year’s $1.1 billion in gross written premiums mark the fourth consecutive year of growth since its IQUW was launched in 2021, the firm highlighted.

    “I am delighted with our results and the growth across our chosen areas of expertise as we continue to build a diverse, multi-line specialty portfolio,” said IQUW Chief Executive Officer, Peter Bilsby.

  • In an interview with Reinsurance News, the reinsurance broker ReFlex Solutions’ Chief Executive Officer, Neville Ching, provides key insights into Bermuda’s thriving reinsurance market and its ability to adapt to increasing global challenges in an exclusive interview with Reinsurance News around the 2025 Bermuda Risk Summit.

    Ching highlighted Bermuda’s ability to handle major events as a testament to its strength. He said: “A prime example of the market’s strength was that as Hurricane Milton developed into a Category 5 storm, heading for Tampa FL in October last year, the market prepared itself for the ‘Big One’. At no point during the preparations did the Bermuda market doubt that it wouldn’t have the resources to respond in full.”

  • Royal Gazette reports that Fitch Ratings has affirmed the ratings of SiriusPoint Ltd, including its long-term issuer default rating at “BBB”, its senior debt rating at “BBB-” and its insurer financial strength rating at “A-” (Strong) of SiriusPoint’s subsidiaries. It has also revised the firm’s outlook to positive from stable.

    SiriusPoint chief executive Scott Egan said Fitch’s decision to improve SiriusPoint’s outlook to positive followed nine consecutive quarters of strong operating performance and was a reflection of the contribution and hard work of the global team.

  • SiriusPoint has reported its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ending Dec. 31, 2024, reflecting improvements in core underwriting performance and continued business repositioning efforts.

    The company reported a fourth-quarter combined ratio of 90.2% for its core business, a 3.2-point improvement from the previous year. The full-year core combined ratio stood at 91.0%, contributing to US$200 million in core underwriting income.

  • IQUW has launched a ports and terminals product to help brokers and clients manage their risks with cover for physical loss or damage to marine property and cargo handling equipment, business interruption and third-party liabilities.

    The offering will be led by Ali Welchman who has been tasked with building the book. He moved from Markel last September where he was a senior underwriter.

  • Specialty and property re/insurer IQUW has strengthened its Credit and Political Risk team with the appointment of Andrew Tongue as Lead Underwriter, reporting to Chris Wilkinson, Head of Specialty.

    Tongue will head the established team and play a pivotal role in shaping IQUW’s enhanced product offering in this space. The team’s primary focus will be on credit risks, complemented by traditional political risk coverages, globally.
